W 2010 Covers Recap

Jennifer Garner wearing Dior orange dress for W January 2010, she looked fresh! (there’s still photoshop i think). Rihanna in white Gucci was February cover girl. Megan Fox wearing blue Giorgio Armani for March. All were photographed by Craig McDean.

Steven Klein photographed Gerald Butler and Jennifer Aniston (she’s wearing Lanvin shoes) for April cover where the two promoting their movie, The Bounty Hunter. Julianna Margulies photographed by Nathaniel Goldberg wearing red Dolce & Gabbana animal print dress showing the awkward split on her dress for May cover. Cate Blanchett photographed by Craig McDean for June is one of my favourite cover from W this year. She looked ethereal in the image. The famous Miu Miu dress first appeared on W July cover. Eva Mendes wore it and lensed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. The dress goes a long way ever since.

August 2010 was Stefano Tonchi‘s first W cover since he moved to the magazine in March. He chose Rebecca Hall and her co-star in The Town, Jon Hamm as they both photographed by Nathaniel Goldberg. Tonchi chose 8 rising movie stars for his first September issue, all of them photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. It was also remarked the first full issue edited by Tonchi. New logo, new layout, new W.

Blue Valentine‘s star Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling posed together for W October cover as they lensed by Inez & Vinoodh. While Kim Kardashian posed naked for November cover for it’s Art Issue shot by Mark Seliger. Katherine Heigl and her adopted daughter, Naleigh are the December cover stars of W with Patrick Demarchelier as photographer. It’s more like family portrait than a cover.

Im not quite a fan of the last 2 months covers of W, maybe because the cover featured less color (it’s still a great images though) but Stefano Tonchi took risk with his decisions at W. I salute him for that.

23 cover stars, 7 photographers, 6 white background covers, 4 dark background covers and 2 outdoors covers.
