Marie Claire US got two Academy Award Best Actress winners as their cover stars this year. Natalie Portman who won the award for her dramatic role in Black Swan wore Dior on the magazine’s November cover, shot by Tesh. While Julia Roberts who got her Oscar from Erin Brockovich, made a notable cover appearance for Marie Claire‘s December issue photographed by Cedric Buchet.
Another Oscar-related actress on the line up is Keira Knightley, who graced their important March issue shot by Nathaniel Goldberg. She was nominated for the same category as Natalie and Julia back in 2005 for Pride and Prejudice. On the side note, May issue cover star Scarlett Johansson may haven’t received a nomination for Oscar, yet, but she was a presenter for the prestigious event back in 2011.
The majority of Marie Claire‘s cover stars this year were actresses. From Glee star Lea Michele, Tron Legacy heroine Olivia Wilde, the quirky yet lovely New Girl and (500) Days of Summer protagonist Zooey Deschanel, and Disney starlet Vanessa Hudgens. Three of them were posed in front of Tesh‘s lens (he shot the total 5 slots this year!), while the other one was photographed by Andreas Sjödin.
Former Victoria’s Secret Angel and Project Runway host Heidi Klum, American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, TV personality and author Lauren Conrad, and singer/rapper Nicki Minaj rounding up the 12 cover stars from the monthly women’s publication edited by Anne Fulenwider.
