The first part of the highly anticipated The Hobbit entitled An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14th 2012 and directed by Peter Jackson.

Two of the main casts, Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins) and Ian McKellen (Gandalf) are featured on the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Empire UK featured Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey from the highly anticipated Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey—that will hit the theaters on December 14th, 2012—for their latest cover.

Quoted from First Showing: “The Hobbit films, with screenplays by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson, are currently being filmed in New Zealand in digital 3D at 48FPS using the very latest technology”

Besides Sir Ian McKellen who’s reprising his role as Gandalf, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Christopher Lee and Andy Serkis are all returning as their characters from Lord of The Rings with extra casts Evangeline Lily, Luke Evans and Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins.

The sequel, The Hobbit: There and Back Again will be released on December 13th, 2013.
