Longchamp Fall Winter 2014 Ad Campaign

British girl Alexa Chung is returning to be the face of French brand Longchamp once again.

This campaign marks Longchamp‘s 20th anniversary. Alexa was shot in Saint-Tropez by Max Vadukul — poses with a Le Pliage Heritage bag, which is a new, more structured version of the classic tote. Chung‘s print ads will be accompanied by an Alice in Wonderland-inspired short film directed by Jean-François Julian.

The full campaign will be released on September 09th. (source)

Alexa Chung is Longchamp’s latest woman in motion. The French leather goods firm tapped the vivacious “It” girl to front its spring campaign — the first volley in a year’s worth of events to mark the 20th anniversary of its best-selling Le Pliage bag.

Spots showing Chung frolicking around Saint-Tropez — occasionally behind the wheel of a vintage Fiat convertible with unusual wicker seats — are to break in select February magazines, including Taiwanese Elle and American and British Vogue.

Max Vadukul shot the print ads with Alexis Roche as stylist, while Jean-François Julien did a short film that will make its debut during New York Fashion Week on social media and as digital advertising.

Marie-Sabine Leclercq, head of global communications, noted more than 20 percent of Longchamp’s media spend now goes to digital. Its latest mini-movie, titled “Bigger Than Life” and starring model Coco Rocha, has logged more than a million views online. (source)

Longchamp had its models (top model Coco Rocha and one of Balenciaga‘s Fall Winter 2011 campaign girls, Liisa Winkler) chasing after frisky dogs, hopping over police barricades and literally dancing in the streets for its Spring Summer campaign spots, slated to break in February magazines.

“We really wanted to show this woman very active in the city, very dynamic,” said Sophie Delafontaine, head of design at the family-owned house, which has recently branched out from its core leather goods into ready-to-wear, footwear and other accessories.

Longchamp hired a new agency, Air Paris, to realize a campaign its head creative director Tho Van Tran describes as “a bit unconventional, and nonstatic in all senses of the word.”

He tapped photographer Dane Shitagi, known for his portraits of dancers from the New York City Ballet, to capture scenarios loosely based on musical comedies and recalling the arch elegance of fashion editorials from the Fifties and Sixties.
