Featured Article: Senayan City Fashion Nation 2013 Opening Event

The annually held Senayan City Fashion Nation has reached its seventh edition this year and it’s bigger than ever! Last night, the opening event was held at the shopping centre’s atrium with a fashion show from Ari Seputra, Rusly Tjohnardi and Mel Ahyar. In the glamorous event, Senayan City also proudly announced that the prominent shopping centre will be the new home for Jakarta Fashion Week that will be held later this October.

Violinist Mayla Fayza serenading the guests as she opened the event in a Rusly Tjohnardi dress (she also closed the finale wearing a dress from Mel Ahyar) and riding the new Audi to the elegant black and gold stage. After she performed, the host of the evening, the ever lovely Nadya Hutagalung, come up and greets the excited guests wearing a gorgeous beaded strapless dress from Biyan. The top 3 finalists from the first cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model came to the stage afterwards to present The Style Maker Awards to model Paula Verhoeven, singer Andien, socialite Fitria Yusuf, and actor Rio Dewanto respectively as the recipient from each category.

Ari Seputra was the first designer to present the collection. Advina Ratnaningsih opened his fashion show in a sleeveless wrap dress with white hemline. The collection used the mostly the color of the season, black and white. Ari Seputra combined it with mullet shapes, loose yet edgy fittings and sporty details. Rusly Tjohnardi’s latest dresses and gown were mostly made out of tulle with his soft muted colors with a dash of blue, gold and green. Looks like that he was inspired by the Indian princess as the models strutting the catwalk (Antie Damayanti opened) in intricate headpiece that surprisingly fits the collection. Last but not least on the opening event of Fashion Nation we got Mel Ahyar. With her signature column silhouette, she managed to give interesting variety of long dresses with the used of fabrics including taffeta, sheer panels, textured fabrics, tulle and lace as soon as Sarah Azka walked the runway as first face.

We leave you with some of the runway images, special pics of Asia’s Next Top Model finalists and winner— the humble Stephanie Retuya from Philippines, the bubbly Kate Ma from Taiwan, the elegant Jessica Amornkuldilok from Thailand, and the leggy Sofia Wakabayashi from Japan (who’s represented by Perfect 10 Management in Jakarta)—and model off duty style with Ayu Faradilla and Dea Nabila. The Seventh Edition of Fashion Nation will be held until April 21st 2013 at Senayan City, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Backstage Images of Sunsilk Hair Studio Launching Event

Sunsilk Indonesia just launched Sunsilk Hair Studio yesterday with a blast show! Indonesian make up artist and hair stylist extraordinaire, Qiqi Franky, collaborated with seven prominent Indonesian fashion designers to showcased three outfits and seven hair trends for the event last night: Retro Red Carpet (on Ari Seputra), Upper East Ponytail (on Denny Wirawan), Perfect Waves (on Rusly Tjohnardi), First Lady (on Adesagi Kirana), Fierce Crop (on Jeffry Tan), Country Braids (on Barli Asmara) and Hollywood New Edge (on Sapto Djojokartiko).

After spent times in backstage to photographed the models–where Indonesian famous models such as Alannys Weber, Kimmy Jayanti and Monique shared the make up moment with new faces, Anastasia, Patricia and Adel–I rushed to the star studded event hosted by former model Aline Adita and Sari Nila (both in Adesagi Kirana) to watched the fashion show and live-on-stage hair styling by Qiqi Franky and performance by the stunning jazz singer, Dira Sugandi.

I also got a chance to snapped the revolutioner hair stylist, Jamal Hammadi, who once a protégé to the great Odile Gilbert slash the owner of the eco-friendly Hammadi Beauty and now collaborated with Sunsilk for their Black Shine range.

You can also view the seven display of seven dresses by the designers in front of Sunsilk Hair Studio located at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, East Mall, Level 2 until July 31st, 2011.

Well, I think it’s time for you guys to enjoy the images from the event 😉

Amby.

Bazaar Fashion Concerto 2010

I got the chance to attended the 2010 Bazaar Fashion Concerto at JCC Plenary Hall Jakarta on December 01st, 2010. The event was held every year since 2006 and this year was quite special because it’s also the celebration of Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia 10th Anniversary.

Crowd at entrance

They have 10 Indonesian designers with their fantastic designs that interpreted their imagination of Fashion and Technology just like this year’s theme : FASHIONTECH

Young talented Indonesia singer, Sherina Munaf are one of the performer on the show along with the extravagant Melly Goeslaw, the gorgeous Dewi Sandra, rocker Andy /RIF and the one and only Ubiet. Becky Tumewu was the host on that night while Andy Ayunir acted as Music Director.

The designers (with their collections name and make up & hair by) are :
Deden Siswanto – Great Galore – make up & hair by Donny Liem,
Sofie – Iconic Fluidity – make up & hair by Adi Adrian,
Kiata Kwanda – Sculptech – make up & hair by Jimmy Himawan,
Sally Koeswanto – The Extraterrestrial – make up & hair by Gusnaldi,
Wita for BIN House – Fabric In Motion – make up & hair by Qiqi Franky & Team,
Sapto Djojokartiko – Flysionaire – make up & hair by Philip Kwok,
Oka Diputra – Ré-Évolution – make up & hair by Michael Zimbalist,
Ari Seputra – Techno Afrique – make up & hair by Wim Soeitoe for KLEO Beauty,
Susan Budihardjo – The Glasses Pages – make up & hair by Qiqi Franky & Team,
Denny Wirawan – Eternal Revival – make up by Oscar Daniel hair by Hendro Revco.

This year’s show is the best in my opinion. From the theme, collections and the show executions. I was stayed on my seat until the show its over because they presented the great collections with a stunning presentations!!. The combination of techno music, great visual art and also the awesome runway presentations (noted that it was the works of Inet Leimena as show director and Panca Makmun as choreographer) made a FABULOUS show!!! My only distractions was 3 people that sat behind me. They chatted and commented all the way from the show started until the show ended with an annoying level of sound… Wish i could thrown something to them 😀

The Finale

I gotta say, my favorite collections are : Deden Siswanto with his love to local fabrics and Indonesian heritage (Paula Verhoeven looking fab with long silver cape as she closed his section!) he gave his signature collection with a twist. The dramatic collection of Sally Koeswanto where she knows how to dress a woman and make them feel sexy!! (the flowing gown is my favourite).
Sapto Djojokartiko’s structured and edgy designs was memorable!! He got his inspirations from “aeromodelling” where he combines wooden details and feminine fabrics such as tulle. One dress even have a wooden windmill on it and who can missed THAT finale dress worn by Bazaar Fashion Concerto 2010 face, Julia Jamil !! (some models wearing wood airplanes on their blonde beehives!).
Last but not least, Denny Wirawan with his military inspired collection (he used lots of red which is great for a different military look).

Cosmopolitan Indonesia Editor In Chief, Fira Basuki

Too see the collections you have to be patient because Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia will featured the collections exclusively in fashion spreads in their future issue. And hopefully they will give a DVD just like the previous years so that everyone can see it also 😉
