Marie Claire US 2011 Covers Recap

Marie Claire US editor in chief, Joanna Coles, chose the new Lois Lane in the upcoming Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel, Amy Adams as the magazine’s first cover star this year. The 37 year old and the mother of Aviana Olea Le Gallo was lensed by Mark Abrahams in Gucci.

Amy Adams was not the only mother on the 2011 covers of Marie Claire US. 31 year old Michelle Williams, the mother of Heath Ledger‘s daughter, Matilda Rose, was smiling in dusty pink Valentino dress photographed by Tesh for February issue. Kate Hudson (31), the mother of Ryder Russell Robinson (from Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes) and Bingham Hawn Bellamy (from Matthew Bellamy of Muse), was lensed by Tesh along with her co star in Something Borrowed, Ginnifer Goodwin, for the June cover.

Sarah Jessica Parker who have three children: James Wilkie Broderick, Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick and Tabitha Hodge Broderick (the twins was conceived from a surrogate mother), landed the important September issue cover page while the proud mother of Deacon Reese and Ava Elizabeth, Reese Witherspoon (35) landed two covers of October issue. Both covers lensed by Tesh who also photographed the mother of the fashionable Suri Cruise, Katie Holmes (32) for the November issue.

The rest of the cover stars are Miley Cyrus–who looked gorgeous on one of the covers wearing Roberto Cavalli–for March by Tesh; Abbie Cornish and her Limitless co-star who recently named as the 2011 Sexiest Man Alive, Bradley Cooper for April by Peggy Sirota; the beautiful Glee starlets Dianna Agron, Amber Riley and Lea Michele for May by Mark Abrahams; Jennifer Aniston and her co-stars from Horrible Bosses, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Suidekis for July by Tesh; Olivia Wilde and her fab bangs for August by Tesh; and the newly divorced Kim Kardashian, who looked lovely, for December by Marie Claire US regular photographer, Tesh.

Harper’s Bazaar Australia 2011 Covers Recap

10 issues. 12 covers. Half of the 2011 covers of Harper’s Bazaar Australia are “lying down” poses.

From the Giuliano Bekor photographed image of Jessica Alba beside a vibrant colored pool for January/February issue to the December cover (on sale November 14th) featuring the winner of the latest cycle of Australia’s Next Top Model, 18 year old Montana Cox, in bed of flowers and red sultry lips.

The gorgeous red haired Nicole Kidman looked lovely for the March cover lensed by Alexi Lubomirski. A really good reprint cover. Three bright young actresses from Down Under, Abbie Cornish, Alice Englert (daughter of Academy Award winning director, Jane Campion) and Rachael Taylor are featured for three different April covers of the magazine.

The always stunning Cate Blanchett landed the black, white and gold cover of May issue while Art‘s favourite model, Bambi Northwood-Blyth (and the hand of male model Jack Vanderhart) was photographed naked by Lachlan Bailey for the June/July front image of the magazine.
The 21 year old with her signature eyebrows landed two cover slots last year. Could she landed another one next year?

Mia Wasikowska also landed another cover for Harper’s Bazaar Australia. She was photographed wearing a Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 sheer dress for the soft colored August cover.

A bright fuschia chiffon dress from Gucci Fall Winter 2011 was the choice of Harper’s Bazaar Australia team to be worn by 19 year old top model Karlie Kloss who was photographed for the September cover by Patrick Demarchelier‘s son, Victor. Usually I don’t like Alexa Chung covers, but this one by Angelo Pennetta for their October issue is quite lovely. Her cover for next month’s edition of Teen Vogue is really nice as well.

Last but not least,Simon Lekias photographed 28 year old Miranda Kerr in Mary Katrantzou Fall Winter 2011 structured skirt for November front page, one of my 2011 favourites. The mother of one is back from her maternity leave and landed the honour to wearing the $2.5 million Fantasy Treasure Bra in this year’s Victoria Secret Fashion Show in November.

Overall, the 2011 covers of Harper’s Bazaar Australia are better than last year’s. The new font and outdoor photographed covers are really worked this time. Looking forward for 2012 covers!

Share to us which are your favourite covers from the magazine 😉

Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway & James Franco for Vanity Fair US March 2011

For their Annual Hollywood Issue (this years remarks their 17th edition), Vanity Fair gathered some of current hottest, young and most talented movie stars : Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Jame Franco (Hathaway and Oscar nominee Franco are co hosting this years Oscar!), Jennifer Lawrence (this year Oscar nominee), Anthony Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Eisenberg (third this year’s Oscar nominee in this cover!), Mila Kunis, Robert Duvall (he’s NOT young and NOT a new actor, why is he on the cover???), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield (remember how he was struggling to “introduced” The Social Network on this year’s Golden Globe?), Rashida Jones (in Tom Ford), Garrett Hedlund and Noomi Rapace (she almost unrecognizable here!!). This cover was photographed by contributing photographer Norman Jean Roy which they usually hired Annie Leibovitz. Where is she by the way…

“We wanted to evoke the glamour of 1930s Shanghai, an era of smoky, alluring elegance. We had the gentlemen looking dashing in black tie, whilst the ladies were radiant in spring’s gowns—from Gucci to Yves Saint Laurent—and glittering with diamonds from Chanel and other arbiters of glamour.” says fashion and style director Jessica Diehl. Click to see behind the scenes slide show at VF.com

Rumour has it that they will have Natalie Portman on the cover but apparently there is no Ms.Portman 😦

Vanity Fair US 2010 Covers Recap

Actress with the most Oscar nominations, Merry Streep landed the first <strong>cover slot of 2010 for Vanity Fair. While the most controversial athlete of 2010 Tiger Woods, posed for the February cover showing off his pecs. Quite a shocker that VF chose the athlete for the cover..

A trio of Abbie Cornish, Kristen Stewart and Carey Mulligan graced the March 2010 : The Young Hollywood Issue front cover (2011 cover rumored to be having Natalie Portman, James Franco and Ryan Reynolds while Jennifer Lawrence, Paula Patton, Rashida Jones, the new Spider Man-Andrew Garfield and Noomi Rapace will graced the folded cover!).
While Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Mia Wasikowska, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood & Anna Kendrick photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the folded cover. All looking pretty in pastel clothing.

Michael Douglas with piles of gold! That’s what the April cover all about promoting the later postponed released of Wall Street : Money Never Sleeps, while the legendary Grace Kelly, is peeking for the May cover of Vanity Fair and soccer players Didier Drogba and former Emporio Armani Underwear ambassador Cristiano Ronaldo (tennis player Rafael Nadal is replacing him as the face of Armani Underwear next year)took off their jersey and wearing only underwear for the June cover.

A blue-ish cover of Elizabeth Taylor sitting on the water was what the magazine featured for their July cover. And Angelina Jolie was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier for the August cover. Very simple. The magazine goes grey for September edition with Lady Gaga photographed by Nick Knight and styled by Nicola Formichetti with her grey hair covered her b**bs.

My favourite cover goes to the Lindsay Lohan‘s October by Norman Jean Roy. She looked gorgeous with the hair and the posed just perfect!! Loved it so much!!!

The rest of the year was belong to Marilyn Monroe for November and Mama Cher for December (she’s promoting her latest movie, Burlesque with Christina Aguilera)
