PPR (previously known as Pinault-Printemps-Redoute until May 18th 2005), The French multinational holding company which develops a worldwide brand portfolio such as Gucci, Saint Laurent Paris, Sergio Rossi, Boucheron, Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney, Brioni and Alexander McQueen, has reportedly requested to register a new name “Kering” (means dry or dried in our native Bahasa Indonesia) to the US Patent & Trademark Office in November 2012, as part of a rebranding.
Vogue UK reports that CEO François-Henri Pinault aims to increase the firm’s sales to €24 billion (£20.9 billion), by 2020 from €9.7 billion (£8.4 billion) in 2012.
Earlier this January, PPR acquired a majority stake in British label Christopher Kane. If the name change really happens, marks another milestone for Indonesian fashion industry. Most recently, the talented Tex Saverio dressed Academy Award-winner Jennifer Lawrence for her upcoming movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. We are hoping that the world will take notice of the ever exciting Indonesian fashion industry, very soon!
