Featured Article: Teen Vogue US 2012 Covers Recap

It’s been a great year for Teen Vogue. Cover wise of course. The only let down this year was their August issue, featuring the dream couple, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. They got Josh Olins as the photographer, they tapped the hottest celebrity couple as the cover stars (they’re real life couple in case you didn’t know), and the result was a prom picture. There’s not even a single chemistry there! What a shame.

Young and talented cover stars Elle Fanning, Ashley Benson, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato looking gorgeous on the front pages. Their cover images are the ones that we love this year. They’re cute, age appropriate and beautifully photographed with great color composition! The other images featuring Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry, Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice, and the boys of One Direction are quite good too, even though we are not crazy about it.

We are really looking forward for 2013, because we are curious which celebrities will editor in chief Amy Astley brings as the cover stars. And will they make it as good or better than 2012? We have to wait and see.

Read our 2011 recap, here. Feel free to share on the comment box below your favourite Teen Vogue US cover.

Featured Article: Harper’s Bazaar US 2012 Covers Recap

Harper’s Bazaar US got a makeover last March with bigger size and new layout designed by Robert Derrick (formerly at British Vogue) and Stephen Gan. but we think the makeover didn’t matter much on their newsstands cover. It’s still boring, repetitive, and unattractive. Perhaps, Carine Roitfeld appointment as Harper’s Bazaar‘s Global Fashion Director last October could bring something fresh to this Glenda Bailey‘s monthly edited fashion publication. But we are doubting that, until we see her first collaboration with the magazine next March.

Their March, April, September and November issue are quite interesting. Maybe it’s because their sleek new fonts and a great Gwyneth Paltrow shot? Maybe it’s because Mila Kunis? Maybe because the bold pink Alexis Mabille headpiece that popped? Or maybe because the matching gold backdrop and dress? Only those four newsstands covers that stole our attention this year.

The subscriber covers were quite decent this year and to be honest, they are even better than the newsstand version. Our favourite pick for subs are Rihanna‘s August, Gwen‘s September and Kate Hudson‘s October issue. The rest of the cover star slot were given to Demi Moore/February (Ugh, worst cover of the year!), Penelope Cruz/May, Kate Moss/June-July, and Taylor Swift/December-January 2013.

Check out our recap from last year, here and 2010, here. Share to us your favourite cover image from Harper’s Bazaar US this year in the comment box below.

Narciso Rodriguez L’Eau For Her Fragrance 2013 Ad Campaign

Narciso Rodriguez presented his famous fragrances For Her and For Her Eau de Parfum in 2004 and 2006. After that, there were many limited edition and variations on the original theme. In February 2013, a new, refreshing and lighter version called Narciso Rodriguez L’Eau For Her is launched.

The original is warm, addictive, heady and musky. The new fragrance retains its sensuality but expresses it in the form of a light veil of body and skin scent. L’Eau is more playful and more youthful than the original. According to the designer, it symbolizes modern femininity which involves simple elegance and impulsivity.

The composition consists of jasmine, cyclamen and sparkling pink peony, with rose, amber and frozen lily of the valley that form a silky veil. The base includes musk and chypre accords of patchouli, immanent to the For Her collection of fragrances.

The campaign shows model Carmen Kass. The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete Fragrance 2013 Ad Campaign

Perhaps the most famous fragrance line from Dior, Poison Collection, has been expended by another edition of its Hypnotic branch. The original Hypnotic Poison was introduced in 1998; Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle version saw the light of day in 2010 and now we have Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete coming out in January 2013.

Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete, like every scent of this collection, smells of fatal attraction, extreme sensuality and seduction. The new version refrains from vulgarity and advocates a more subtle approach though.

Elegant, oriental as well as fresh, it begins with citrus burst of Sicilian mandarin, orange and Calabria bergamot. Its heart is dominated by intense accord of Sambac jasmine mixed with Tunisian neroli. The base features distinctive vanilla aroma, which is the signature of Hypnotic Poison collection. Francois Demachy signs the composition.

The face of the campaign shot by Steven Meisel is French actress Mélanie Laurent. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Male Fragrance 2013 Ad Campaign

UPDATED DECEMBER 24th 2012: The campaign was photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

Jean Paul Gaultier is launching a new fragrance for men, LE BEAU MALE, which arrives on the market in March 2013. With its memorable composition and combination of ingredients, this fragrance offers a unique game of hot and ice-cold notes. The new fragrance Le Beau Male is created to accentuate the erotic potential of each man and to stimulate all senses. ”This is the scent of freshness which makes men hot,” announces Jean Paul Gaultier.

It is possible to make a parallel with the cult Le Male edition, since perfumer Francis Kurkdjian wanted to remind us of the formula and to create a new fragrance while accentuating accords which were not attended closely. The new creation carries the scent of freshness, and is very seductive and powerful, while reminding us of hot fingers sliding over cold, moist glass. The composition highlights a fine cocktail of fresh and moist mint and absinthe making the composition lighter and cooler. Lavender adds a calming effect playing with orange blossom combined with sage. The base incorporates a sensual trail of musk closing the composition.

The flacon is shaped like all previous editions of the Le Male collection. The “man” torso is colored in ice blue with light blue, metallic stripes over his chest. The ice cold white color accentuates the juiciness and freshness, while the blue metallic stripes restrain the strength and energy. The metal outer packaging remains unchanged. LE BEAU MALE is available as 75 ml and 125 ml EDT. Besides the EDT, a 75 gram deodorant stick will also be available. The advertising face is Kaylan Falgoust who is posing naked on ice in the pin-up style of the 50s.
