Numéro China only have 14 issues so far (their first issue with Liu Wen on the front page was launched in September 2010), but their covers are good, combining familiar faces with great styling and minimalist backgrounds.
Two Chinese supermodels landed the honour of featured for two covers this year. The former face of H&M, Hogan by Karl Lagerfeld, Gap, David Yurman, Anna Sui and Giorgio Armani, 29 year old Du Juan, was photographed by Mei Yuan Gui for the magazine’s first 2011 cover and by Tiziano Magni for June/July issue while the 23 year old Liu Wen–the current face of Estée Lauder and the first Asian model to ever walked on Victoria’s Secret runway–was photographed by Kai Z Feng for March cover and by Tiziano Magzi for one of the September covers (the other one was featured fellow Estée Lauder‘s campaign girl, Constance Jablonski).
Tiziano Magni snapped most of the covers for Numéro China this year. Besides two covers mentioned earlier, the Italian born photographer also lensed Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing for April; Burberry model Edie Campbell for May; top model and the current face of L’Oreal, Liya Kebede for October; and my favourite cover of the year, December issue featuring Doutzen Kroes.
The rest of the covers are featuring one of the models for the 2012 Pirelli Calendar, Edita Vilkeviciute, who was photographed by Kai Z Feng for August front page and the rising Chinese model, Ming Xi by Claus Wickrath for November issue.
