Looks like Harper’s Bazaar US tried different types of covers this year.
Blue background : Kate Hudson‘s January by Peter Lindbergh, Miley Cyrus‘s February by Peter Lindbergh and Demi Moore‘s April by Mark Seliger.
Terry Richardson-esque : The famed photographer photographed Cameron Diaz for August and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks for November.
Close up : Kate Moss by Peter Lindbergh for March.
Vogue-ish : Katherine Heigl for June/July by Alexi Lubomirski
White background : Gwyneth Paltrow‘s May by Alexi Lubomirski and Jennifer Aniston‘s September by Mark Seliger.
Festive background : Drew Barrymore gold background for October by Mark Seliger and Katy Perry silver background by Alexi Lubomirski for December (click here for Katy‘s special limited edition subscriber cover).
Alexi Lubomirski, Mark Seliger and Peter Lindbergh each shot 3 covers this year. While Terry Richardson shot 2 covers.
From their 11 covers, 8 of them featured big “FASHION” stamped on the headlines. Of course we already knew that Harper’s Bazaar is a fashion magazine :))
None of the newsstands cover is my favourite, because the covers are not selling and not attractive to me. Maybe it’s their signature cover, but i think they need to make the cover much more attractive if they want to sell more issues… I gotta admit, i loved their fashion spreads even better than their covers. And my favourite goes to the black and white subscriber cover of November featuring Georgia May Jagger by Hedi Slimane.
