Featured Article: Numéro Tokyo 2014 Covers Recap

December is not even started but here we are, presenting our first 2014 covers recap already!

As usual, Numéro Tokyo is the first magazine to wrapped up their front pages line up for this year. They started the year with a soft palette cover and styling of this year’s IT model, Cara Delevingne. Valerija Kelava, with a blunt bangs, fronted the magazine’s March issue shot by Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello who shot the most covers this year. Another cover model with blunt bangs hairstyle was Vlada Roslyakova on the April issue by Ellen Von Unwerth.

Continuing their tradition of having studio shoots, Numéro Tokyo photographed most of their covers with plain backdrop in various colors. From Kiko Mizuhara beauty shot, flower girl Meghan Collison, to classic faced Julia Frauche, cool veteran catwalker Maggie Rizer to model turned actress Tao Okamoto. The only time they have outdoor shots were the one with Elizabeth Olsen (by Michael Schwartz) and Lindsey Wixson (by Guy Aroch)—our favourite image of the year from them.

Featured Article: Vogue Turkey 2013 Covers Recap

2013 is yet another strong year for Vogue Turkey. We love most of their covers this year. From Poppy Delevingne‘s soft January issue by Alvaro Beamud Cortes, to Karmen Pedaru‘s eerily creepy big grin on December cover, shot by Cuneyt Akeroglu. Here’s hoping that 2014 will be yet another great year for them.

Some of our favourites from them are the February issue with Catherine McNeil, in Lanvin, photographed by Miguel Reveriego; Anja Rubik and her mile-long neck on the April issue; and Mariacarla Boscono‘s triumphant returns on magazine cover, shot by Cuneyt Akeroglu.

The magazine collaborated with photographers Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello, Sebastian Faena, KT Auleta, Cedric Buchet, and Serge Leblon for the remaining covers. They photographed top models and famous personalities such as Patricia Van Der Vliet, Milla Jovovich, Karlie Kloss, Bette Franke, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Toni Garrn, and Lou Doillon for Vogue Turkey‘s March, May, June, July, August, September, and November issues respectively.

Featured Article: Vogue Mexico 2013 Covers Recap

Fashion and beauty photographer Koray Birand—who lives in Istanbul but splits his time between London, Paris and Munich—is branching out to yet another fashion publication this year. Having been a regular for Harper’s Bazaar Turkey since 2010, it looks like that he is now a favourite for Vogue Mexico and Latin America too, with 3 slots this year! He photographed the March, April, and October issues respectively with cover girls Isabeli Fontana, Hana Jirickova, and Princess Salwa Aga Khan aka Kendra Spears.

David Roemer, Nagi Sakai, and Marcin Tyszka also worked more than once for the monthly fashion publication. New Mexico born David Roemer shot the January and November issue with Jacquelyn Jablonski and Behati Prinsloo (both models participated in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show). Tokyo born Cairo raised photographer Nagi Sakai snapped the magazine’s February and June covers with Toni Garrn and Mirte Maas, while Warsaw native Marcin Tyszka also shared the same amount of cover stint as the previously mentioned David Roemer and Nagi Sakai. He shot fellow Polish Anja Rubik and Zuzanna Bijoch on the magazine’s May and July covers.

That leaves us with Mariano Vivanco (Peruvian) who shot Candice Swanepoel for September issue, Alique (Dutch) who snapped fellow Dutch Anna de Rijk for August edition, Ruven Afanador (Colombian) who shot First Lady of Colombia for the magazine’s special cover for the Spanish speaking country, and rising duo Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello (both Argentinian) who photographed actress Scarlett Johansson for December issue.

Tell us your favourite cover from Vogue Mexico and Latin America this year. You can also read our 2012, and 2011 recaps.

Featured Article: Vogue Ukraine 2013 Covers Recap

Canadian Ukrainian top catwalker Daria Werbowy landed the honor to be the first cover star of Vogue Ukraine‘s premiere issue that was published earlier this year. The 30 year old was photographed in Prada Spring Summer 2013 by Steven Pan on the cover. Another Ukrainians who graced their covers this year were singer-composer Eugene Hütz (he shared the cover slot with Estonian model Katlin Aas); Berdyansk born actress and former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko; and Kiev born catwalker Irina Kravchenko.

Zuzanna Bijoch landed the second cover slot of the year, the Polish catwalker was photographed by Jeff Bark for the cover. Fellow catwalkers who graced the covers of Vogue Ukraine this year were former Victoria’s Secret Angel from Czech Republic, Karolina Kurkova (shot by Hans Feurer); Canadian born Meghan Collison (by Olivier Zahm); American runway veteran Guinevere Van Seenus (by Cuneyt Akeroglu); Kincardine born doll faced stunner Jessica Stam—our fave cover of the year! (by Chad Pitman); and French regal Marie Piovesan (by Sofia Sanchez & Mauro Mongiello).

Even though Vogue Ukraine is still trying to find their identity for their covers, but we are quite happy with the results. And hopefully they’ll be better in 2014.
