The cover was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld with styling by Carine Roitfeld. Do you like the pink backdrop and Marilyn Monroe hairstyle? Her necklace is Dior btw. (source)

From 12 issues that was published by Vogue Brazil this year, seven of them were fronted by Brazilian models. They consistently shows their support for homegrown talents, and that’s a good thing, especially these three models who they really love and support: Isabeli Fontana, Adriana Lima, and Gisele Bundchen. Those household names have graced the covers every single year since 2011. But, that observation was only from our recaps archives, perhaps they’ve graced even more.
Curitiba born Isabeli Fontana (30) was featured for the magazine’s September issue, posed in front of Jacques Dequeker lens together with American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ben Harper, while the longest serving Victoria’s Secret Angel (since 2000) Adriana Lima, who was born in Salvador, Bahia 32 years ago, was photographed by Giampaolo Sgura for October issue. Gisele Bundchen (born in Três de Maio in 1980) landed two cover slots this year. The sexy mother of two worked with the renowned Mario Testino for June issue, and Giampaolo Sgura for December issue.
Another well known Brazilian models on their covers this year were Izabel Goulart for February (by Giampaolo Sgura), Alessandra Ambrosio for March (by Caroline Trentini‘s husband Fabio Bartelt), and last but not least Aline Weber for April (by Jacques Dequeker).
Top models like Joan Smalls, Magdalena Frackowiak, Mirte Maas, Bette Franke, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Naomi Campbell, Kate Upton, Lindsey Wixson, and Karlie Kloss also featured for the magazine front pages this year. Which one is your favourite?
Eight out of twelve cover girls of Vogue Spain this year are related to Victoria’s Secret. They got three current Victoria’s Secret Angels, one former Angel, and four models who have walked the sexy annual fashion show.
The sultry Edita Vilkeviciute is one of the magazine’s favourite girls, and she cemented her status by landed yet another cover for the magazine. The 24 year old Lithuanian who walked Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2008, 2009 and 2010 was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier (he also shot Daria Werbowy‘s July cover) for the January issue. Polish topmodel Anja Rubik, who shared the runway with Edita in VSFS 2009 and 2010 (also 2011), graced the magazine’s June issue by Giampaolo Sgura.
Estonian Karmen Pedaru and Puerto Rican Joan Smalls started their VSFS debut in 2011 (Joan also walked in 2012 and 2013), and both landed Vogue Spain covers for August and December issue, shot by Greg Kadel and Karl Lagerfeld respectively.
This year’s Fantasy Bra wearer and Victoria’s Secret Angels, Candice Swanepoel channeled 90s supermodel with easy nonchalant styling on the April issue, shot effortlessly by Mariano Vivanco (he also shot Andreea Diaconu‘s October cover). Fellow VS Angels Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes also made cover appearance on the magazine’s February and September issues, photographed by Alexi Lubomirski and Tom Munro.
British model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who ended her contract for the famous lingerie brand in 2011 due to honoring a work commitment elsewhere, was featured on the important March issue of Vogue Spain. The British girl who starred in Transformers: Dark of The Moon and the current girlfriend of actor Jason Statham was snapped by Michelangelo di Battista. Her future work will be starring in the highly anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road with Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and fellow model Riley Keough and Abbey Lee Kershaw.

Actress Kate Bosworth was the first cover star for Harper’s Bazaar Australia this year. The 30 year old American was photographed by Steven Chee. Australian based Chee also photographed fellow actress Cate Blanchett on a black backdrop for the magazine’s May issue. We love both images by him.
Similar image where the sexy Scarlett Johansson posed in front of black background was also the magazine cover for September issue, but this was shot by Karl Lagerfeld with styling works by Carine Roitfeld. She also styled yet another minimalist cover featuring Lara Stone, shot by Kacper Kasprzyk, for March (click here to view 14 other covers by well known designers for the magazine’s anniversary issue!). Both of the images were taken from Carine‘s editorial that was published in Harper’s Bazaar internationally.
Former Miss Universe 2004 and the host of the recent season of Australia’s Next Top Model (she’s recently renewed her AusNTM hosting stint for another season), Jennifer Hawkins landed the February cover slot, shot by Simon Lekias. Mr.Lekias also photographed the December issue with homegrown actress, Nicole Kidman who has been featured on the cover consistently for the past three years. The winner of AusNTM, Melissa Juratowitch is featured on the November cover, as her winning prize. The 16 year old wears Tom Ford Fall Winter 2013 on the image that was snapped by Simon Upton (Upton also photographed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for October issue).
Elle UK produced mainly close up shots for their subscriber covers line up this year. We don’t know whether it’s intentional or not. But some of them are stunning! We are talking about Kylie Minogue’s ethereal shot by Cuneyt Akeroglu, Scarlett Johansson’s beautifully demure photo by Rankin, Miley Cyrus striking black and white profile by Jan Welters, and Anne Vyalitsyna’s regal blue cover by Kai Z Feng.
On the other hand, their newsstand covers were not really stands out. The only newsstands version that caught our attention were Natalie Portman’s November and Candice Swanepoel’s December issue (she’s gonna wear that $10 million bra in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show). Even though the magazine had gone through quite a drastic make over on the cover (sleeker fonts, cleaner layout) but those gorgeous subscriber covers that wins us over.
But that’s only our opinion though. Perhaps one of your favourite covers from Elle UK this year is amongst these selections: Victoria Beckham for March (by Carter Smith); Rihanna for April (by Mariano Vivanco); Kate Hudson for May (by Benny Horne); Amy Adams for July (by Jan Welters); Pixie Geldof for August (by David Vasiljevic); Katy Perry for September (by Mariano Vivanco); Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for October (by Mariano Vivanco); or Michael Fassbender for December special collector’s edition (by David Bailey).
