Miu Miu Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

UPDATED JANUARY 17th 2012: Added two new campaign images photographed by David Sims via TFS.

UPDATED JANUARY 15th 2012: Added two new campaign images via TFS.

22 year old Australian actress Mia Wasikowska is looking more mature than her real age and we didn’t mean that as a compliment. To be honest these first preview from the upcoming ad didn’t interest us at all. But, we’ll wait til we see more images before made the final judgement.

What do you think of the campaign, guys?

Harper’s Bazaar US 2011 Covers Recap

Aah, Harper’s Bazaar US… Great cover stars but with bad cover layouts. Too much texts don’t you think?

The magazine helmed by Glenda Bailey since 2001 will reduce their frequency to 10 issues next year, combining June/July and December/January (starting already with the one with Madonna on the cover), and will increase its trim size. Hopefully they’ll also upgrade their covers line up next year. Amen.

They started this year with The Good Wife‘s Julianna Margulies lensed by Alexi Lubomirski. The cover is one of my least favourites along with Kim Kardashian‘s March issue by Terry Richardson. The subscriber covers featuring models Lily Donaldson and Magdalena Frackowiak were way better that those.

Nicole Kidman and her signature ginger hair graced the February issue as she was lensed by Alexi Lubomirski and interviewed by Jennifer Aniston. The subs cover is better, no? Fellow actress Courteney Cox landed the April cover slot, lensed by Terry Richardson.

Lady Gaga landed two covers this year and I kinda liked both of the newsstands’s. The May issue (remember that prosthetic cheekbones?) was by Terry Richardson while the no-make-up October cover was by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin.

Britney Spears was another well known singers who graced this year’s covers of Harper’s Bazaar US. She was snapped by Alexi Lubomirski for June/July issue and made her fans happy because she’s returning on the front pages of magazines. Beyoncé was photographed by Terry Richardson for the November cover while the Queen of Pop, Madonna, made her comeback on glossy magazine covers for the December 2011/January 2012 issue lensed by Tom Munro along with Andrea Riseborough, her leading lady in W.E, a new movie she directed.

The rest of the covers are featuring former Academy Award host, Anne Hathaway in Gucci and Miu Miu for August by Alexi Lubomirski, his third works this year. Lea Michele wore Yves Saint Laurent on the important September issue photographed by Mark Seliger. The subscriber cover was lensed once again by Terry Richardson featuring the gorgeous Karmen Pedaru. Hopefully next year Harper’s Bazaar will featured models on their newsstands covers, not just subscriber’s.

Vogue Japan 2011 Covers Recap

What is the similarity between Vogue Japan and Glamour US? If your answer is both of the magazine using white backdrop, then you are correct!

If Glamour US selling celebrities on their covers, Vogue Japan (previously known as Vogue Nippon) is using top models to gracing their covers. Last year, Daria Werbowy, Lily Donaldson, Raquel Zimmermann and Abbey Lee Kershaw each landed two cover slots. But only the latter returning this year and featured for the badly criticized July cover taken by Mario Sorrenti in Christian Dior yellow beaded dress.

Most of the cover girls last year are related to Victoria’s Secret, but this year only Abbey Lee Kershaw, Karolina Kurkova (September issue photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin in Giorgio Armani printed dress), Gisele Bundchen (January issue photographed by Mario Sorrenti in Gucci) and Izabel Goulart (March issue photographed by Inez & Vinoodh in Dolce & Gabbana) who’s related to the much anticipated annual fashion show.

Two red-haired singers, Karen Elson (who is also a very famous model) and Florence Welch (in the first non-model cover in more than five years!) graced the February and October issue photographed by Inez & Vinoodh and Karl Lagerfeld respectively.

There are also two supermodels, Kate Moss (this issue marked the change from Vogue Nippon to Vogue Japan and I’m loving this cover with that Chanel dress!) and Naomi Campbell (in Gucci) who landed the May and June cover of the magazine photographed by Mert & Marcus and Inez & Vinoodh respectively.

A group shot of new crop of girls are featured for the April issue which the girls are wearing Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2011 dresses and photographed once again by husband and wife duo, Inez & Vinoodh. The girls are Fei Fei Sun from China, Milou Van Groesen from Netherlands, Bambi Northwood-Blyth from Australia and Britt Maren from USA.

Italian photographer, Giampaolo Sgura, landed his first ever Vogue Japan cover for December issue featuring first time cover girl for the magazine, Aymeline Valade (in Bottega Veneta) posed in a similar posing style as Lara Stone‘s November front page image lensed by Mario Sorrenti. The gap-toothed top model wearing yellow Givenchy sweater and printed skirt from the Fall Winter 2011 collection.

Pillow lipped Dutch model, Daphne Groeneveld was photographed for August issue also by Mario Sorrenti in Miu Miu for one of my favourite covers from the magazine this year. The blue masthead and the styling works by George Cortina are working for me. Love this!

Vogue UK 2011 Covers Recap

Vogue UK have better covers line up this year comparing from last year‘s where only two issues got my attention.

Let’s start with the covers that I have less interest in: Alexa Chung—last year’s March cover star—for June issue front page photographed by Josh Olins. Victoria Beckham, with her signature don’t-mess-with-me-look, by Alasdair McLellan for February issue. Vanessa Paradis (it looked good from distance, but when you have it in your hands, the cover was boring) by Mario Testino for July issue. Kate Winslet by Mario Testino for April and Keira Knightley also by Mario Testino for January. I’m not a fan of these covers.

57 year old Peruvian, Mario Testino, photographed seven covers of Vogue UK this year! His remaining shots that I liked are for May issue featuring top models Freja Beha Erichsen, Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova. But that only because of the models selection. He shot the second 2011 cover of the 24 year old Danish girl Freja Beha Erichsen for the oh-so-important September issue in Dolce & Gabbana sequined dress. Last year it was Kate Moss who had the honour to be featured twice.
He also shot the regular cover girl, Kate Moss, in Miu Miu, for August and another supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, for the magazine’s last front page of 2011.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins landed her very first (we are pretty sure it won’t be her last) Vogue cover for October photographed by Sølve Sundsbø while Robyn Rihanna Fenty also landed her first cover for the magazine, chaneling the late Marilyn Monroe, for the November issue lensed by Alasdair McLellan. I like both covers.

My number one spot for the most favourite cover of 2011 from Vogue UK goes to none other than Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott‘s first ever cover works for the magazine featuring the sexy Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing Gucci fiery red blazer for March edition! I’m in love the first time I saw it!

Well, I’ve shared mine, and now it’s your time to share yours in the comment box below :)
