Tatler UK really loves red masthead. Every year, they used at least four issues with the particular color, just like 2010 and 2011.
This year marks the second consecutive year of Duchess of Cambridge appearance on the front page. Kate Middleton was featured on the February issue this year and unfortunately, the Chris Jackson photographed image is one of our least favourites from the magazine’s 2012 line up.
The other one is Edie Campbell‘s March cover by Luis Monteiro. The posed was nice, but if only they used different background color, the cover should’ve been more flattering.
There are four images that caught our attention this year. Supermodel Christy Turlington posed in front of Arthur Elgort lens with a cute mustache for May; fellow supermodel Cindy Crawford looking tan-tastic on the September issue by Ruven Afanador; Prince Harry of Wales looking handsome photographed by Tim Rooke on the November cover (his ex, Florence Brudenell Bruce, is gracing the January issue); and model/actor Clara Paget doing some weird pose on the December cover by Phil Ponyter.
The rest of this year’s line up from Tatler UK are featuring actress and the wife of Lord Frederick Windsor, Sophie Winkleman (by Robert Erdmann), a cute puppy with a crown–celebrating The Queen‘s Diamond Jubilee, actress Andrea Riseborough (by Rankin), actress Alice Eve (by Ruven Afanador), and TV host Cat Deeley (also by Ruven Afanador).

Vanity Fair started this year with good covers such as the January issue featuring Lady Gaga by Annie Leibovitz, and a trio of Matt Damon, Daniel Craig and George Clooney for February, also by Mrs.Leibovitz. And then they produced the always exciting March issue, which featured top rising names in movie industry such as Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence, Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain, photographed with a vintage 1920′s feeling by Mario Testino..
..They falls flat with Julia Roberts on the April issue but then redeemed it with pleasant for the eyes covers in the following months with Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes, Sofia Vergara, Michelle Dockery (May), Marilyn Monroe (June), Kristen Stewart (July), and Alec Baldwin (August).
Vanity Fair sinking into the worst-covers-of-the-year hole with their September, October and November edition respectively that’s featured one paparazzi-like shot of Kate Middleton, one OMG-WTF-is-this image of Katie Holmes, and last but not least, one awfully taken snap of a smirking Daniel Craig, in front of a golden girl’s lady part. The subscriber cover from September issue with Jessica Chastain was quite decent, but it’s such a shame they didn’t used it as the main cover.
Thank God for Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott who shot supermodel Kate Moss to perfection for the magazine’s December issue. We’re really hoping that Vanity Fair would never, ever again producing front pages like those three worst covers this year.

UPDATED AUGUST 03rd 2012: The subscriber cover was photographed by Mario Testino.

The magazine’s subscribers will receive a cover featuring the Academy Award-nominated actress and the face of Yves Saint Laurent Manifesto, flame haired Jessica Chastain.
Why don’t they just make Jessica Chastain as the newsstands cover as well, instead of Duchess of Cambrigde!? Meh.

Last year, Kate Middleton graced the February Warhol-esque cover of the same publication and this year, she landed another cover slot and photographed by Chris Jackson. We prefer her 2011 cover to be honest.

Graydon Carter edited monthly magazine, Vanity Fair, have some returning/repeating and new cover stars this year.
Angelina Jolie landed her second consecutive cover slot (last year she graced the August issue) for the magazine this October with a stunning shot by photographer duo with the most campaign works in Fall Winter 2011 season, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. Johnny Depp landed not one, but two covers this year: January issue photographed by Annie Leibovitz and November issue snapped by Terry Richardson.
Emma Stone (who’s featured on the foldout cover in March 2010) is landed her solo cover this year for August issue wearing red and white bikini from Marc by Marc Jacobs and lensed by the famed Patrick Demarchelier. It is definitely one of my favourite from Vanity Fair this year along with Annie Leibovitz‘s April issue with Robert Pattinson and Norman Jean Roy photographed March cover with Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and James Franco.
The gorgeous Scarlett Johannsson (remember her naked cover with Keira Knightley and Tom Ford for March 2006 issue?) was photographed by Mario Sorrenti for December while the sensational teen pop singer Justin Bieber (his first VF cover I suppose) was covered in lipstick stains in February front page snapped by Art Streiber.
The remaining covers are the returning Jennifer Lopez (in Gucci) by Mario Testino for September; topless Rob Lowe (his first cover?) for May and the striking first timer Katy Perry for June, both are photographed by Annie Leibovitz; and my least favourite, Prince William and Kate Middleton by Mario Testino for July issue.

Compared to last year, Tatler UK covers are less colorfull in 2011 and I like 2010 covers line up better.
This year, the magazine edited by Kate Reardon featured the high profile Middleton Sisters on their covers. The Warhol-esque portrait of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in the February cover of Tatler UK is way better than her sister cover, Pippa Middleton, for August issue. They made the cover as if Pippa‘s dead. Ugh.
Mischa Barton made a comeback to magazine cover (I think its her only magazine cover this year) with a elegant pose photographed by Robert Erdmann for January. Zara Phillips, the second child and only daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips, was photographed by Uli Weber for the October cover.
Gossip Girls‘ Chuck Bass, i mean, Ed Westwick was photographed by Michael Roberts for the March issue alongside fellow actress and Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2011 campaign model Felicity Jones. 43 year old Naomi Watts showed her playful side on the April cover playing with foam in a bathtub.
Bruno Barbazan photographed Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova for May issue as a “Easter Bunny” while Robert Erdmann landed another cover job with the June cover featuring young actress Lily Collins, the daughter of British musician Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman.
More actresses on the covers of Tatler UK this year are Romola Garai (July), Emily Mortimer (September), the stunning Isabel Lucas (November) and Anna Friel (December)

Prince William and Kate Middleton photographed by Mario Testino for the cover of the latest issue of Vanity Fair UK. Awful cover to be honest.

Here’s the February cover of Tatler UK where they featured the Princess-to-be Kate Middleton in Warhol-esque cover. Kate Middleton will married to Prince William next April.
