This 2011 recap marks W magazine’s first full covers line up with new logo since they changed it September 2010 and their covers did not disappoints.
Stefano Tonchi‘s edited monthly publication chose actors Garrett Hedlund and Emma Stone to graced the January covers photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin and then the magazine gave an exclusive first look of February cover girl, Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander (remember the tension between Vanity Fair and W about the cover star?) from the upcoming David Fincher‘s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The cover was photographed by Jean Baptiste-Mondino who also shot the April covers featuring Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska.
Academy Award nominated actress, Mila Kunis heated up the March cover as she was photographed by Craig McDean in Eres silk bra and Chanel silk tulle organza coat. The British born New York based fashion photographer also lensed Mad Men‘s January Jones for the two covers of May issue. Academy Award winning actors, Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks was photographed together by Mario Sorrenti for the June issue promoting Larry Crowne. The Naples born New York City based photographer also shot one of my favourite magazine covers ever, the December issue featuring the divine Dakota and Elle Fanning. Another Academy Award winning actress, Tilda Swinton, also one of the cover stars for W magazine this year. The 2008 winner of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role from Michael Clayton was lensed by Tim Walker for August issue.
Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott (the first was born in Turkey while the latter in Wales) photographed Kristen Stewart like we’ve never seen her before, winged tip eyeliner and boufant hair, for the important September cover while the October cover featuring In Time lead casts, Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, marked the returns of Michael Thompson for magazine cover in a long time.
W gave another slot of two different covers for July (Music & Style) and November (Art & Fashion) issues featuring one nude Christina Aguilera by Daniele & Iango, glammed up Beyoncé by Patrick Demarchelier, the rising model Sui He by Max Vadukul and the quirky Nicki Minaj by Francesco Vezzoli respectively.

UPDATED NOVEMBER 12th 2011: Added four new character posters and one banner of the upcoming movie. Images via IMP Awards.
In case you haven’t notice, in 2012 there will be two different movies that will featured Snow White as the main character. The first one is the untitled Tarsem Singh‘s project with the young Lily Collins (daughter of famed singer Phil Collins and Taylor Lautner rumoured girlfried) as Snow White, Julia Roberts as The Evil Queen, Sean Bean as The Father and The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer as The Prince. The movie is set to release on March 16th 2012 and produced by Relativity Media.
Below image is Lily Collins first preview as Snow White in Tarsem Singh‘s untitled adaptation photographed beautifully by Matthew Rolston.
The other Snow White movie that will head to head next year is the one that distributed by Universal Pictures and directed by Rupert Sanders, an acclaimed commercials director titled Snow White and The Huntsman. From the character designs below, we are assuming that the movie will be dark and having the Tim Burton-esque feeling. Interesting.
As you can see from the characters preview released recently at San Diego Comic Con, Twilight star Kristen Stewart looking very cool with an armour as Snow White while the hunky Chris Hemsworth looking perfect as The Huntsman. Academy Award winner Charlize Theron will played her part as The Queen while 25 year old Pirates of The Carribean: On Stranger Tides actor, Sam Claflin will be The Prince.
Which adaptation will you be expecting next year? We are looking forward for both of it!
P.S : Kristen Stewart is rumoured having a cover shoot for a major fashion magazine recently. The issue wil hit the newsstands near the end of the year. Promoting Breaking Dawn? Hell, yes!
Apparently THAT lovely leaked images of Beyoncé is not going to hit the newsstands as the June cover of W because the magazine chose Mario Sorrenti photographed image of Oscars winning actors, Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks as their cover stars! This covers was styled by L’Wren Scott. Both of the amazing actors are promoting their latest movie, Larry Crowne, opens on July 01st 2011 and directed by Tom Hanks.

Aaaah, Elle US. One of my monthly magazine with contents I love the most but covers I love the least.
They gave 2 different covers stars for January, Britney Spears with her boys and the sensational Lady Gaga by Tom Munro who also photographed the now American Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez for February. He also photographed Rihanna in purple and gold Balmain for July and one out of three Julia Robert‘s September covers (the other was the works of another Elle US regular, Alexei Hay and Carter Smith).
But Carter Smith nailed most covers than the other 2!! He photographed Keira Knightley for March, Fergie for May, Kristen Stewart for June, Drew Barrymore for August (the first outdoor newsstands cover this year!), one out of three Julia Roberts September cover, four covers of Elle US 25th Anniversary issue in October (Amanda Seyfried, Lauren Conrad, Gabourey Sibide and Megan Fox), Kate Hudson for November (other November covers featured Jodie Foster, Diane Kruger, Kerry Washington, Hilary Swank and Gwyneth Paltrow) and Jessica Alba‘s December cover.
