Why is Gwyneth wearing Iron Man’s “arm metal piece”? See the movie first and you’ll find out. The movie was released last week here in Indonesia and we must say that it’s the best in Iron Man series!

The new look of Self magazine looks promising, but we’ll wait for their next issue for better judgement.

Harper’s Bazaar US got a makeover last March with bigger size and new layout designed by Robert Derrick (formerly at British Vogue) and Stephen Gan. but we think the makeover didn’t matter much on their newsstands cover. It’s still boring, repetitive, and unattractive. Perhaps, Carine Roitfeld appointment as Harper’s Bazaar‘s Global Fashion Director last October could bring something fresh to this Glenda Bailey‘s monthly edited fashion publication. But we are doubting that, until we see her first collaboration with the magazine next March.
Their March, April, September and November issue are quite interesting. Maybe it’s because their sleek new fonts and a great Gwyneth Paltrow shot? Maybe it’s because Mila Kunis? Maybe because the bold pink Alexis Mabille headpiece that popped? Or maybe because the matching gold backdrop and dress? Only those four newsstands covers that stole our attention this year.
The subscriber covers were quite decent this year and to be honest, they are even better than the newsstand version. Our favourite pick for subs are Rihanna‘s August, Gwen‘s September and Kate Hudson‘s October issue. The rest of the cover star slot were given to Demi Moore/February (Ugh, worst cover of the year!), Penelope Cruz/May, Kate Moss/June-July, and Taylor Swift/December-January 2013.

The headlines placement on this year’s covers from Harper’s Bazaar Australia are better than 2011 and 2010. It’s mostly one-sided, so it doesn’t quite covering the cover stars. Just like they shown on Taylor Swift‘s April (by Benny Horne) and Kate Moss‘ August issue (the image by Terry Richardson is a perfect example for the use of reprints, same as Gwyneth‘s May cover, also by Richardson). You can also noticed that they used sleeker fonts on the newsstands and very minimal texts (which is great) on the subscribers.
Naomi Watts was the first cover star to graced Bazaar Australia‘s front page in 2012. The British-Australian actress was photographed by Victor Demarchelier, the son of the well-known Patrick, who also snapped top models Jessica Stam for March and Constance Jablonski (she recently left Marilyn and moved to DNA for her New York representation) for September issue. Naomi Watts‘ pal, Nicole Kidman, graced the undoubtedly the best cover from Harper’s Bazaar Australia this year. The 45 year old Academy Award winner was snapped by Will Davidson, together with her lovely daughter, Faith Margaret for the beautiful June/July cover. The Australian born Davidson also photographed fellow Aussie Rose Byrne for the magazine’s October issue slot.
Harper’s Bazaar brighten up their last two issues of 2012 with bright yellow mastheads. The November and December covers featuring actress Emily Blunt, and model Georgia May Jagger, were photographed by Jason Bell and Jason Kibbler respectively. Emily Blunt‘s sultry look clearly outshines Georgia May‘s arched-too-far face, but both subscriber covers were great!
The magazine already released their first 2013 cover, featuring actress and style icon Kate Bosworth, and she looks amazing!
