Seven Covers of The Hunger Issue 4 Spring Summer 2013

Rankin photographed the seven different covers from The Hunger’s latest issue featuring singer Rita Ora, Grimes, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J, A*M*E, Gabrielle Aplin, and top model Crystal Renn.

“Music is the heart of HUNGER this season, with a six-set cover option for issue 4; each talent was handpicked, and applauded with an individual cover, for their unique attitude and ability to challenge the musical norm. “I had begun to notice a pattern emerging in film and fashion, but most notably in music; where people (most obviously, young women) were taking control of their creative lives and output in a way I hadn’t seen before” says HUNGER’s Editor-In-Chief, Rankin. Transcending through to fashion the uncompromising supermodel, CRYSTAL RENN, shines as HUNGER’s limited edition hardback and final cover star.”

The issue 4 of The Hunger Magazine will hit the newsstands on April 04th 2013.

Featured Article: Dazed & Confused 2012 Covers Recap

Dazed & Confused‘s covers are really diverse this year, in a good way. They produced some of the most interesting covers in their history.

We love Grimes‘ April issue, in which she was photographed by Hedi Slimane wearing the unmistakable Givenchy Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture crystal nose ring and matching earrings. We love the crystal encrusted headpiece that artist Theo-Mass Lexileictous wears on the May cover, shot by Walter Pfeiffer. We love the eerie image of actor Noomi Rapace, by Sølve Sundsbø on the June issue. We also love how controversial their September issue was, with Azealia Banks blowing an inflated red condom, shot by Sharif Hamza.

Their October issue with model Joan Smalls and actor Sam Riley was subtly sexy yet seductive. They’re sensually bitting an apple to match the “Temptation” headline, photographed by Sean & Seng. Iris Apfel‘s November cover (in a bright Comme des Garçons voluminous dress) was one of our favourites this year as well. The 91 year old fashion icon looks amazing on the image snapped by Jeff Bark. Even though some people hated it, but their December issue with Angelababy, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and Nicola Formichetti (all four images were photographed by Matt Irwin) was the most fun and playful images they’ve ever published.

The rest of the cover stars this year are actress Rooney Mara, rappers A$AP Rocky and Snoop Dogg, rising models Erjona Ala, Frida Aasen, Kati Nescher, Lara Mullen, and Zenia Sevastyanova.

Sebastian Faena and Carine Roitfeld photographed and styled these three different covers of the latest issue from V Magazine featuring musicians (Grimes, Sky Ferreira and Charli XCX, all clad in Givenchy) and rising models (Ava Smith, Thairine Garcia and Kati Nescher in Balenciaga and Stef Van Der Laan, Daniela Braga and again, Kati Nescher, all dressed in Comme Des Garçons).

Grimes for Dazed & Confused April 2012

Singer Grimes was photographed on the cover by Hedi Slimane, who is returning to Yves Saint Laurent as new creative designer replacing Stefano Pilati.
