Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain & Mia Wasikowska for Vanity Fair US March 2012

Quoted from VanityFair.com:

The first-ever Hollywood Issue cover shoot from Vanity Fair contributing photographer Mario Testino, a bevy of Hollywood’s most precocious beauties lounge across a three-panel foldout—including two new Oscar nominees.

The Art Deco set was designed to evoke the all-white, Jazz Age interiors of English decorator Syrie Maugham, whose clients included Bunny Mellon, Elsa Schiaparelli, and the Duchess of Windsor; Vanity Fair’s fashion and style director, Jessica Diehl, put the 11 cover starlets in pastel satin dresses and frothy feathers to lend a 20s and 30s boudoir feel.

Across the panels are actresses Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins, and Brit Marling.

Mara and Chastain—both featured on the front panel—were nominated for Academy Awards in January, Mara for her portrayal of cyberpunk hacker Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Chastain for her supporting role in Tate Taylor’s Oscar heavyweight, The Help. (The Julliard grad also had starring roles in Take Shelter, The Tree of Life, and Coriolanus in 2011).

Tatler UK 2011 Covers Recap

Compared to last year, Tatler UK covers are less colorfull in 2011 and I like 2010 covers line up better.

This year, the magazine edited by Kate Reardon featured the high profile Middleton Sisters on their covers. The Warhol-esque portrait of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in the February cover of Tatler UK is way better than her sister cover, Pippa Middleton, for August issue. They made the cover as if Pippa‘s dead. Ugh.

Mischa Barton made a comeback to magazine cover (I think its her only magazine cover this year) with a elegant pose photographed by Robert Erdmann for January. Zara Phillips, the second child and only daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips, was photographed by Uli Weber for the October cover.

Gossip GirlsChuck Bass, i mean, Ed Westwick was photographed by Michael Roberts for the March issue alongside fellow actress and Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2011 campaign model Felicity Jones. 43 year old Naomi Watts showed her playful side on the April cover playing with foam in a bathtub.

Bruno Barbazan photographed Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova for May issue as a “Easter Bunny” while Robert Erdmann landed another cover job with the June cover featuring young actress Lily Collins, the daughter of British musician Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman.

More actresses on the covers of Tatler UK this year are Romola Garai (July), Emily Mortimer (September), the stunning Isabel Lucas (November) and Anna Friel (December)

Which are your favourite covers from Tatler UK this year guys? :)

UPDATED JUNE 07th 2011: Added 16 year old Molly Smith (the girl in green trench) interview excerpt via Vogue UK.

MOLLY SMITH is Burberry‘s latest star girl. The 16 year old from Derbyshire was discovered while shopping in Covent Garden two years ago, and has been cast as the label’s autumn/winter 2011 campaign star – photographed by Mario Testino - and inspired by David Bailey‘s portraits of Jean Shrimpton taken in the Sixties.
“[The shoot] was very relaxed and exciting at the same time – it was the best day of my life so far! My mum and dad are so proud,” Smith told us today. “It was great working with the other British models, and I have always loved the Burberry campaigns so to be a part of it was really cool. I really love [the images], the clothes and the styling are amazing. The Sixties-style make-up looks wicked.”
Although modelling wasn’t always what Smith set out to do (she is currently still at college), she has since landed campaigns for Topshop (spring/summer 2011), and McQ (pre-fall autumn/winter 2011). Once she finishes college, Smith hopes to go into modelling full-time – but she may have to give up one of her favourite pastimes first.
“I used to play girls’ football but I don’t so much now – my agents have told me not to bruise my legs so much!” she laughed. “Aside from work I love seeing my friends and family and playing Grand Theft Auto – I love computer games.”
Has life changed since she started her career?
“When I am at home with my mum and dad it all feels the same, apart from if I go into a shop or something and my picture is there – like when the Topshop campaign was out – that was fun,” she said. “I am still at college, so I feel pretty normal most of the time. All my friends have been really nice and supportive which I am happy about. But when I come to London it’s like a different world, I feel really grown-up going to do these things, it’s so exciting!”

UPDATED JUNE 02nd, 2011: Added couple more images with models, Molly Smith and Amber Anderson photographed by Mario Testino.
