It is more exciting to waiting every month and see what GQ UK brings on their covers than the US version. Because GQ UK works with different photographers and setting and concept almost every single months. Unlike their US brother that always with the boring white backdrop and suited-up cover stars.
Some of the highlights from this year that caught our attention are Sam Taylor Wood‘s sephia-colored January cover featuring Daniel Craig, who also featured on one out of six front pages of the magazine’s November issue that celebrating 50th anniversary of the iconic James Bond (the other cover stars are previous Bond casts–George Lazenby, Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Sean Connery, and Timothy Dalton).
We love Olivia Wilde‘s cute and sexy April cover by Gavin Bond, but of course the other cover version featuring comedians Ricky Gervais, Michael McIntyre, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Chris Rock, is definitely not on our “best cover” list. Our final favourite front pages from GQ UK this year are featuring three gorgeous, lovely yet sexy ladies: Homeland‘s Claire Danes for September issue by Simon Emmett; singer Lana Del Rey (naked!) for October issue by Mariano Vivanco; and last but not least, Twilight star Ashley Greene for December issue by Benny Horne. They did great jobs with the stunning images!
The rest of the cover stars for this year’s line up including rising actor Michael Fassbender; Academy-Award nominated actress Keira Knightley; Victoria Secret’s Angel from South Africa, Candice Swanepoel; singer Cheryl Cole; the new Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield; the new Bond girl from French, Bérénice Marlohe; stage, tv and film actor James Corden; Mad Men‘s John Slattery, singer Robbie Williams; and rapper Tinie Tempah.

From ten covers of Numéro Tokyo this year, seven of them are featured the cover girls posing in front of plain backdrop (we didn’t count Candice Swanepoel‘s shadowy background). They brighten it up with multicolored, ombré, and clashing masthead and fonts. Some of them worked, some doesn’t.
For the cover models, they featured 1 singer turned successful fashion designer (Victoria Beckham), 1 model/TV personality/host (Alexa Chung), 1 former Estée Lauder spokesperson (Hilary Rhoda), 1 rockstar daughter (Georgia May Jagger), 2 current Victoria’s Secret Angels (Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel), 2 models who walked Victoria’s Secret fashion shows (Lily Donaldson and Toni Garrn), and 2 household names in high fashion runways (Lindsey Wixson and Ginta Lapina).
Chilean born photographer Nino Muñoz snapped four covers this year (April, June, November and December), while Alexi Lubomirski (who was born in Wimbledon) and Horst Diekgerdes (born in Germany) photographed two covers each, January/February, September, March, and July/August respectively.
Fashion photographers Eric Guillemain and Angelo Pennetta shot one cover each in 2012 for the magazine. The former worked together with Lindsey Wixson for May cover, while the latter with Alexa Chung for October issue.
Our favourite cover from Numéro Tokyo this year goes to Victoria Beckham‘s March issue by Horst Diekgerdes. The colors are great and her side face shot is stunning.
Which one is your favourite this year, guys?

Giampaolo Sgura is really gaining lots of attention this year. Besides shooting editorials that published in various major fashion publication, the Italian photographer also shot his second Dolce & Gabbana campaign this year. He also photographed four covers for Vogue Japan this particular year: January issue with Maryna Linchuk; March issue with Dolce‘s campaign star, Bianca Balti; August issue with Anja Rubik; and December cover with Kendra Spears.
Dutch duo, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin snapped two covers for Vogue Japan this year, with two Darias: Werbowy for July and Strokous for October (that Comme des Garçons dress really grabbing the attention).
The rest of the front page slot this year were given to huge names in photography, such as Sølve Sundsbø for February issue with Saskia de Brauw (we love the soft color palette), Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott for April issue with Kate Moss (one of the year’s worst cover, really), Terry Richardson for June issue with Candice Swanepoel, rising duo Daniele Duella and Iango Henzi for May with Natasha Poly, Mikael Jansson for September issue with Karlie Kloss (our favourite!), and Patrick Demarchelier for November issue with Aymeline Valade.

Hilary Rhoda, Caroline Trentini, Candice Swanepoel and newcomer Sung Hee Kim may haven’t set their foot on the runway of Miu Miu, but they booked the latest campaign of Miuccia Prada‘s second line anyway.
The images that also featured top names Jessica Stam, Karen Elson and Daphne Groeneveld, were stunningly photographed by Steven Meisel, who apparently got his mojo back, on the first day of New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 earlier this September. Love this!
